REV. STEPHEN WOOLVERTON & RITA WOOLVERTON

Pastor Steve was called into ministry while serving on active duty as an acting Public Affairs Officer with the Navy in 2007 in Naples, Italy. He is a veteran of both the US Army, where he served and an infantryman, and the US Navy, where he served as a public affairs professional.

Pastor Steve holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, and a Master’s Degree in Human Relations. He attended seminary at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. where he earned a Master’s Degree in Divinity, and he is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry through Liberty University.

He served as Senior Pastor for three United Methodist Churches on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, before joining the Free Methodist Church in 2018.

He served as interim pastor for the Baltimore First FMC during its merger and restart as Pathway Fellowship FMC. Since then he was called to serve as pastor for the Risen Refuge in Jersey City in December 2018.

Pastor Steve also serves on the board for the Paris Reidhead Bible Teaching Ministries (BTMI), a ministry that provides Bibles, evangelism materials, and Biblical teaching to people and groups around the world. In addition to his service on the board, he assists with the promulgation of Bibles, commentaries, and ministry materials.

Pastor Steve often cites the whole of the Bible as being his favorite verse, however Psalm 40 has held a special place in his heart. He says he can feel the words of David as if they were his own words.

When God first called Pastor Steve into ministry, it was with this specific message. God’s direction to him was simple: Tell my people that I love them.

Since then, Pastor Steve has continued to serve God, to share His message, and to seek out where and how God wants him to deliver this message.

PSALM 40:1-4

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
    he turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
    and gave me a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth,
    a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
    and put their trust in him.

Blessed is the one
    who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
    to those who turn aside to false gods.
